Blake Island

About two weeks ago, Joanna asked me if I wanted to take a boat trip to Blake Island for the purpose of doing a nature hike. I was not entirely tuned in to what she was saying, but said "Sure!" Today was the day. As we arrived, I thought there were an awful lot of old folks around. Little did I know this was an outing sponsored by the SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER!

Cootville!!

I am glad I shave my head. There is nothing worse than "Old Man Hair".

The trip was a blast. We packed a lunch, enjoyed the boat ride over and back and also enjoyed a rigorous 4 mile hike through the woods. The entirely of Blake Island is a state park. No vehicle traffic. Ferries or private boats are the only access. They do have dedicated camping sites for kayakers and it is within kayaking distance of Bainbridge Island. It is a beautiful and pristine forested island, with a great view of Mount Baker, Mount Rainier and the Seattle Skyline.

It was also nice being the youngest person on the boat, other than the crew.

We came home and I made a birthday dinner for my spectacular lady. Fired up the Green Egg and did up T-Bones, radicchio, zuchinni, green onions, new mex chiles, jalepenos, and red bell peppers. Also baked spuds. It all went down the easily, followed by a fine Shiraz. Life is good. Happy birthday Joanna!
